Getting harder and harder to find

Howdy and Hello,
thought I would fill you in on the little drive I took out to Canterbury today to visit the Sydney Vintage Fair today with some friends. After consulting the in-car GPS (a street directory - the paper type!) I took off in the family mobile, just Patsy and I.
There were quite a few stalls set up inside the convention centre at the Race course. You had to pay a fee to enter and then it was open slather. By that I mean the prices were pretty steep but it was all under one roof and if you could bear the majority of "exhibitors" not even giving you the slightest smile (just looking past you for the next person to walk into their area) then it was a pleasant way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
There was a lot of different things to check out - patterns, buttons, shoes, jewels, hats...and of course, clothes. I was surprised to see quite a bit of retro stuff there - 70s and 80s disco dresses and formal gowns. Even platform shoes and faux fur bed spreads. There also seemed to be many gaggles of 15 -20 year old girls, some dressed in lovely prom frocks but not a thing done to hair, make up etc. Just throwing on that vintage dress that you can actually fit into (being so young) doesn't mean you shouldn't go the whole hog and put some effort in girls! (Okay so I'm insanely jealous they can do up those gowns without slapping on the girdle from HELL!)
I glimpsed a tiny bit of the singers "The Belles" and the fashion parade given by the amazonian models, and even sipped a coffee as I wandered around. I picked up a few pairs of gloves, but that's because I have a serious glove obsession and may need help at some point (Gloves Anonymous!). But there was something missing and it took me a while to work out exactly what it was. It was that thrill of finding something that no one else had found...it had all been found many many times. And pawed over. And a huge price slapped on it. If I had heaps of dough and no worries in the world, it would be a lovely place to buy many a trinket. I think I enjoy finding that special thing hidden away, waiting just for me, invisible to everyone else. Getting harder and harder to find I know, but still there somewhere, out there.
If you were there, hope you found what you were looking for. I would probably go again, just to see what was there.
