Sydney Rat Day = Great Father's Day for all

It twas an early start to the day for the little 'uns but it turned into a super dooper Father's Day at the Rat Day down in Sydney's south. It was sunny, warm with a gentle breeze rustling the fox tails and rusty bits of the loads of kustoms, hot rods and just plain old cars on show. They were lining up to get in as we crawled into the gates at a reasonable 8.30. And it just grew and grew, with pleny of interesting lead sleds, coupes and total rust buckets and not too many "what is that doing here?!?" cars.

Lots of interesting people, frocked up gals from Bex's stall of goodies, mobile coffee bar for those of us who NEED caffine and the usual hairy ol daddies. My fave car of the day: a beautiful peppermint ice Impala parked near the front gate...it even had a 1960's pack of Kools on the dash (not that I advocate smoking) but it was a nice touch! All it needed was the number plate: MADMEN. Another highlight was a real head turning drag into the yard and following the twin drag marks down the lane way, the noise was awful!

Catching up with lots of friends and acquaintances, wandering around in a no hassle environment, lots of excellent cars, only thing missing was maybe some tunes...and maybe a little caravan to retire to when the sun got too much for the grumbly little ones. Maybe next year?
